Important information about the new banking regulation for IBAN reconciliation
Since October 9, 2025, all banks in Germany have been required to match the recipient's name with the IBAN when making transfers. This new EU regulation should help to better prevent fraud and incorrect transfers.
At present, however, this automatic reconciliation does not yet work completely smoothly at many banks. As a result, when trying to pay an invoice, a message may appear such as:
“Recipient and IBAN do not match”
or
“Possible safety notice — please check the information. ”
Important for you:
Please do not be unsettled by such reports: The payment details provided on our invoices — recipient: Nelly Finance GmbH and the associated IBAN — are of course correct.
If you enter this information exactly as it appears on your invoice or in your online account, your payment is in perfect order.
With most banks, the transfer can be carried out without any problems despite the notice. The notice does not mean that there is an error — it is just a new safety feature that is currently being optimized.
Why the notice appears:
The recipient IBAN reconciliation is carried out by the banks themselves. As Nelly Finance GmbH, we do not participate in this reconciliation and have no influence on how your bank checks or evaluates the data.
If a message is displayed, it is not because of our information, but because of the technical implementation of your bank. The institutes are currently working to improve the systems and to reconcile such reports more precisely in the future.
Our conclusion:
- Our account details on the invoices are correct and secure.
- A warning does not mean a risk or mistake.
- The transfer can usually still be carried out.
- If you have any individual questions, please contact your house bank directly, as this is the only one who controls the reconciliation.
With this note, we simply want to inform and reassure you: If you transfer the data from your invoice, everything is in order.
